The third day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Chandraghanta, the third form of Goddess Durga. She symbolizes bravery, grace, and serenity and is known for removing obstacles and bringing peace.
Significance of the 3rd Day of Navratri
Maa Chandraghanta is depicted with a crescent moon on her forehead, which resembles a bell (“Ghanta”), hence the name Chandraghanta.
She rides a lion and has ten hands, carrying various weapons, symbolizing strength and courage.
Worshipping her on this day is believed to bring peace, prosperity, and spiritual enlightenment.
She removes negative energies, fear, and sufferings from her devotees’ lives.
Worship Method (Puja Vidhi)
Color of the Day: Red (symbolizing passion and energy)
Early Morning Rituals:
Wake up early, take a bath, and wear clean clothes (preferably red or yellow).
Set up a Navratri Kalash and light a ghee lamp (diya).
Offerings (Bhog) to Maa Chandraghanta:
Offer milk, kheer, sweets made from milk, fruits, and honey.
Lotus and red flowers are ideal for worship.
Mantra for Maa Chandraghanta:
Chant “Om Devi Chandraghantayai Namah” 108 times.
Recite Durga Saptashati or Chandraghanta Stotra for blessings.
Aarti & Meditation:
Perform Aarti with bells and conch shells.
Meditate and pray for protection, courage, and positive energy.
Charity & Helping Others:
Donate milk, white sweets, and clothes to the needy.
Feeding Brahmins, cows, or poor people is considered highly auspicious.
